The Newcastle player Nuno picked out and why Wolves boss was so 'disappointed' with goal

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has paid tribute to Martin Dubravka's remarkable save at the death - which earned Newcastle United a point.

Newcastle were ultimately indebted to their goalkeeper after the Magpies only managed to score one goal on the night despite having a host of good opportunities.

Jamaal Lascelles did manage to head Newcastle in front on 52 minutes but the momentum shifted when Allan Saint-Maximin joined Miguel Almiron in the treatment room midway through the second half and Ruben Neves equalised a short while later.

Dubravka, who was making his first league start since July, managed to get a hand to Neves' header but the Slovakia international could not keep it out.

However, Dubravka stepped up with a huge save in stoppage time to deny substitute Fabio Silva, whose header looked destined for the net.

Nuno was a goalkeeper, himself, as a player and the Wolves manager was asked about Dubravka's save after the 1-1 draw at St James' Park.

"That's what goalkeepers do," he told BBC Sport. "They get compliments sometimes when one player is not so accurate and so clinical but it was good from Dubravka."

Newcastle again lacked a cutting edge up front without the injured Callum Wilson but, for the second game running, the black-and-whites looked dangerous from set-pieces.

One short corner routine initially came to nothing early in the second half but Newcastle still had men forward when Allan Saint-Maximin beat three Wolves players and scooped the ball into the box. Romain Saiss was there to make a headed clearance but the ball then fell to substitute Ryan Fraser, who picked out Lascelles at the near post.

"I'm disappointed with the way we conceded in the second phase after a set-piece," Nuno added.

"It's something that we have to look at because, honestly, I felt that we were in the game. We started the second half well.

"Newcastle started the first half really strongly and created some problems but, afterwards, I think the team settled down and controlled the game. We played good and had chances in the end with the last push.

"I'm disappointed, though, with the way we conceded. The way we conceded was disappointing from our point of view but I think we did well and the reaction of the boys to the goal was amazing: the way they kept playing, kept searching for the spaces and achieved a very good goal from Ruben."
