Son Heung-min's three-word response perfectly sums up Man City vs Spurs

Son Heung-min offered a perfect three-word response to Tottenham's dramatic Champions League quarter-final success over Manchester City .

The South Korean scored two early goals as Spurs stunned Pep Guardiola's side with a 4-3 win at the Etihad with Son declaring "it was madness".

It looked like City had snatched a last-gasp win when Raheem Sterling found the back of the net in stoppage time only for the goal to be ruled out by VAR due to an offside in the build-up.

And superstar Son admitted they owed a "thank you" to VAR for giving them a reprieve and setting up a huge semi-final clash with Ajax.

"I have never seen something like this," Son told BT Sport after the game.

"It was tough and crazy but we are very proud of our team-mates.

"It was madness.

"Sometimes you are annoyed with VAR but today it is thank you.

"We fought together for 90 minutes.

"We showed unbelievable character and fight."

There was also controversy over Spurs' winner with a lengthy check for a handball after Fernando Llorente bundled the ball home.

VAR eventually opted to award the goal that ultimately proved to be the winner on a historic night for Spurs.

The game was described as a "rollercoaster" by Christian Eriksen, who gave the ball away in the build-up to the disallowed Sterling goal.

"I must be one of the luckiest guys on the planet tonight," Eriksen said.

"I thought it was all over but It was a fun game. It was a rollercoaster, we gave them a lot but also got a lot it was a weird game.

"After today we take a deep breathe, it will be a fairytale to play them and fun to be back in the Arena again."

City and Spurs will now meet again in a crucial Premier League game on Saturday after their breathless Champions League encounter.
