Thousands of shoppers have made appointments to visit Brown Thomas and Arnotts in Dublin city following the news of their reopening.
Nearly 5,000 people have made an appointment to visit their stores over the next number of days with this figure only expected to increase by the end of the week.
While people can still shop without an appointment, they will have to endure the long queues at the door to gain entry.
The shops also have 'virtual queueing' where customers can join a queue online and will receive a text when they are at the top of the 'line'.
Pre-booked visits are available through the Brown Thomas and Arnotts websites but management has warned that stores will operate at a reduced capacity for the foreseeable.
The number of customers exiting and entering the store will be electronically counted and displayed on screen for customers.
New technology will allow customers to virtually try on make up as there will be no staff contact with customers or self-service tester brushes available.
Fitting rooms are also still in use with clothing steamed and sanitised after being tried on by customers.
