Serge Aurier drops transfer exit hint as Tottenham's opening day Premier League fixture 'leaked'

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Monday, August 17.

Aurier drops transfer hint in Sissoko message

Tottenham right-back Serge Aurier may have dropped a hint over his future in North London with a birthday message to team-mate Moussa Sissoko.

Aurier took to Instagram to wish the Frenchman a happy birthday, and part of the message loosely translates to: “Even if our relationship is degraded it is the last time, let’s stay professional”.

The Ivorian defender has plenty of critics after some questionable performances over the last season for Spurs.

Italian giants AC Milan have been linked with a move for Aurier, but Spurs are reportedly set to hold out for £20million.

Potential fixture leak and who Spurs are playing

The new season is now under a month away and there seems to have been an accidental slip-up from the Fantasy Premier League.

Fantasy Football is now live again for people to start ahead of the upcoming campaign, and one eagle-eyed fan on social media spotted that they released the fixtures under each player’s name.

If this is indeed a slip-up, then Spurs will be facing Aston Villa - much like they did at the start of last season.

That day, Tanguy Ndombele was the star of the show - scoring his first Spurs goal - as Mauricio Pochettino’s men came from behind to win 3-1.

Mourinho handed timely reminder of Spurs’ need for a new right-back

It’s no secret that Spurs have been eyeing up a new right-back following a disappointing season from Aurier, their current first-choice.

Kieran Trippier, who left Spurs last summer, was caught out as Tyler Adams scored the winning goal for RB Leipzig to progress into the Champions League semi-finals, beating Atletico Madrid 2-1.

This sparked much criticism in Trippier’s direction on social media, as Joe Donnohue writes, but that criticism may be unfair.

According to Opta, no Atletico player made more clearances than the England defender, and no player on the pitch made more interceptions.
