Jack Sargeant (Welsh Labour)

I am incredibly proud to have represented the community that shaped me for the last three years, I have only ever lived in Alyn and Deeside. I grew up in Connah’s Quay, going to Connah’s Quay High School.

I am 26, a trained engineer and have worked in some amazing companies locally including and completed my apprenticeship at DRB Group on Deeside Industrial estate. Deeside is the workshop of Wales, where a highly skilled workforce produce some of the most advanced products anywhere in the world.

I am proud to come from an engineering background and think it is vital that we have politicians that have worked in Industry.

What is the most important thing you think the Senedd should do in the next five years?

My focus for the next five years will be our local economy, protecting jobs and creating new ones. Local businesses in Deeside need our support if they are going to thrive. Those businesses large and small that I have helped secure funding for will provide the jobs we need going forward and it would be an honour to continue representing and supporting them.

I will also continue to support key workers who have been on the front line throughout this awful pandemic. They have kept Wales running under the most challenging of circumstances and we must now do all we can to be there for them.

What will you do for your constituency if elected?

We need to build our way out of Covid, I am already working with the Welsh Labour Government to deliver new economic and transport infrastructure; if we are to grow, we need to invest. At my core is the principle that we need to help each other if we are to succeed, we have seen so many local voluntary groups step up to help our fellow citizens at this difficult time.

I will continue my work with them to make Alyn and Deeside a better fairer place to live.

I will also continue my work for a kinder politics, we can debate and even disagree, but we must start doing so respectfully.
