San Carlo is opening a Trafford Centre champagne bar

Italian restaurant group San Carlo is to open a champagne bar at the Trafford Centre.

Based inside Selfridges, the venue will specialise in champagne, prosecco, wine and cocktails, including more than 10 types of sparkling wine available by the glass.

The drinks list will be complemented by a menu of charcuterie and shellfish plates.

A sculptural 'cloud' chandelier, made up of 1,000 hand-made Italian glass discs and spanning 20 feet in diameter, will hang over the marble bar.

The family behind the long-established restaurant group say the design is 'a celebration of Italian craft, luxury and beauty with a sense of softness, and elegance'.

Marcello Distefano, managing director of the San Carlo Group, said: “We’re excited to bring a new way to enjoy San Carlo to Selfridges Trafford.

"Of course, we’ve not held back on the design, we’re aiming to create a place which elevates the champagne bar experience and offers somewhere stylish and extraordinary to enjoy a moment of relaxation.”

The Trafford Centre venue, located in the newly refurbished accessories hall on the lower level of the department store, will be their sixth partnership with Selfridges, following the opening of rooftop restaurant Alto at the London shop last year.

Hannah Bass, Selfridges restaurants director, said: “We are delighted to be working with the San Carlo group once again, to launch a new destination Champagne and cocktail bar in our Trafford store.

"The new space builds on the long standing relationship between our two companies and we are sure our customers will enjoy this fantastic addition to our store.”
