An all-party parliamentary group (APPG) for entrepreneurship will be launched on Monday by the business secretary.

Sajid Javid said the group “will make sure the voice of entrepreneurs is heard loud and clear in parliament.”

In its first year the group will focus on four key policy areas: enterprise education, exporting, tax reform and female founders.

Tax reform is the top concern for business owners, according to research by think tank, The Entrepreneurs Network (the secretariat for the APPG, which will conduct research and organise events).

It has surveyed entrepreneurs on areas of policy most important to them. Asked to rate the potential impact of policy changes on UK entrepreneurship, 85% said lowering business taxes would have a positive impact.

This was followed by lowering personal taxes (79%) and cutting UK business regulation (78%).

Alan Mak, MP for Havant, Hampshire, will chair the cross-party group. He said it will be a key bridge between Westminster policymakers and Britain’s entrepreneurs.

In the survey, opinions on the EU referendum were mixed with 48% backing remain and 41% supporting leave. But over half (58%) think exempting the UK from EU regulation would boost entrepreneurship.

Philip Salter, founder of The Entrepreneurs Network said: “It’s time for politicians across the Houses of Parliament to get stuck into the policies that will make a real and lasting difference.”
