Roads closed as man rushed to hospital after being hit by Audi

A man has been rushed to hospital after being struck by an Audi car this morning.

The collision occurred on Southport Road, Bootle, near the roundabout with Northfield Road.

Witnesses describing seeing a number of police patrol cars around a red car, while paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service arrived on scene around 7am.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said the casualty, a man in his 30s, had been taken to hospital for treatment to a serious leg injury although his condition is not believed to be life threatening.

The force said: "We were called around 7am to reports of a collision between an Audi A3 sport and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, has been taken to hospital by ambulance.

"He is being treated for what is described as a serious leg injury."

The crash comes after a day of chaos on the roads, including several incidents on the M56 and M6 motorways.
