Rio Ferdinand makes Raheem Sterling claim about Real Madrid forward

Manchester United great Rio Ferdinand believes Raheem Sterling is better than Eden Hazard on current form.

The Manchester City winger bagged a hat-trick as the Premier League champions came from behind to beat Atalanta 5-1 in the Champions League.

Sterling's 11-minute treble ensured Pep Guardiola's side maintained their 100 per cent start in Group C as they moved onto nine points from three games.

And former United defender Ferdinand insists Sterling is outperforming both Hazard and Philippe Coutinho, both of whom have left the Premier League for big money in recent times.

"If you look at the likes of Coutinho, Hazard, they can't look at Raheem Sterling right now," he told BT Sport.

"They don't get the numbers, they don't get goals and assists and affect games the way this man does at the moment.

"Every game, he's creating three or four chances whether it's a pass, a shot at goal, his running off the ball, his strength is ridiculous.

"His resilience in terms of taking tackles and staying fit is phenomenal.

"On form, I think so (best player in the Premier League). He's definitely in that conversation, this man is just scoring goals. I love everything about him, his attitude his humility. "
