Report: Panthers, Bills to hold joint practices before preseason matchup

Carolina North will meet the original squad for some extra practice sessions before their preseason matchup. According to a report by Joe Person at the Athletic, the Panthers and Bills will hold several joint practices in Spartanburg, SC before their August 16 preseason meeting this year.

Buffalo’s front office is built much in the same model as Carolina’s. Their general manager Brandon Beane spent the first nine years of his career with the Panthers and their head coach Sean McDermott was their defensive coordinator from 2011-2016.

The Bills are unlikely to make much noise in the AFC East this year. For some reference, they are the only team that will not have a single prime time game this coming season.

The big question for Buffalo will be how much second-year quarterback Josh Allen develops. He has undeniable arm talent and wheels, but he has to grow a lot before he’s ready to lead the Bills to a winning record.

Joint practices are a good way for teams to prepare for NFL competition at a time of year when they’re tired of facing their own teammates. This should pay off for both teams.
