Report: Hakeem Butler to take official draft visit with Redskins

Draft news surrounding the Washington Redskins and visits has mostly pertained to quarterbacks.

Until now.

According to NBC Sports Washington, the Redskins will have a meet with Iowa State wideout Hakeem Butler, one of the draft’s top wideouts.

Butler, 6’5″ and 227 pounds, put up 1,318 yards and nine touchdowns last season on 60 catches. With Butler, some of the typical rules for a bigger wideout apply — he’s solid going up and getting the ball and after the catch, but drop issues pop up on film.

Still, it isn’t hard to see why the Redskins would have an interest. Wideout is a mess with Jamison Crowder gone and the team still waiting on Josh Doctson to match first-round hype of his own.

If the pick isn’t quarterback, it might be a weapon like Butler to help the player(s) under center.
