Tasmania has struck a double blow on a rain-hit opening day of their Sheffield Shield clash against South Australia in Hobart.
After being sent in at Bellerive Oval, the Redbacks were 2-27 after 15.1 overs when persistent showers forced a return of the covers and the umpires to call tea.
Young opener Henry Hunt (14) and the experienced Travis Head (five) are unbeaten.
Just 5.2 overs were possible in a shortened first session, with quick Gabe Bell removing opener Jake Weatherald after lunch for three.
Former Test quick Peter Siddle had Jake Carder (three) caught at point not long afterwards.
Further showers are expected on Wednesday afternoon and across the next three days.
Tasmania have been boosted by the return of Siddle, while their top order has been strengthened by the inclusion of Ben McDermott.
They are without the injured Jackson Bird and Test skipper Tim Paine, who is aiming to return to first-class cricket later this month from a neck problem in the lead-up to the summer Ashes series against England.
South Australia, winless from three games this season, have included Liam Scott and Nick Winter at the expense of Jake Lehmann and Brendan Doggett.
The sides paused before play to remember former Marylebone Cricket Club and South Australia Cricket Association chief executive Keith Bradshaw, who died on Tuesday.
The widely respected administrator, who played 25 first-class and nine one-day games for his birth-state Tasmania before shifting focus to off-field matters, was first diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2008.
