Pub drinker glassed in face after row on Mathew Street

CCTV images have been released after a man was glassed in the face following a "minor altercation" in a busy city centre pub.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was struck with the glass in The Grapes pub on Mathew Street , in Liverpool's iconic Cavern Quarter, at around 11.30pm on Friday November 1.

Merseyside Police said he suffered lacerations to his lip, cheek and neck and enquiries have been ongoing to track down the attacker.

Now the force has released stills of a man who detectives believe may have information about the assault.

Detective Constable Matt Carlson said: “We believe that the man pictured could have vital information to help our continuing enquiries.

“This was a brutal assault following what can only be described as a minor altercation, and in which the victim was fortunate not to be more seriously injured.

"However, this will have been a traumatic experience and we’re determined to find the person responsible.”
