PlayStation 5 concept images hint at what Sony's 2020 console could look like

It’s one of the most highly anticipated gaming consoles of all time, and now new concept images have given us a hint at what the PlayStation 5 could look like.

Gamer Dan Kuhl has created stunning renders based on the leaked PS5 devkit, using Sony ’s Dreams software.

Speaking to IGN , Mr Kuhl explained that while the design is based on the devikit, he ‘tried to make it look like a more consumer-friendly realistic(ish) console.’

His concept features the same distinctive V-shaped design seen in the devkit, although the console itself has a more rectangular design.

In terms of ports, the back of his concept features several HDMI ports, a digital optical in, network port, PlayStation accessory port  and a USB Type-C connector.

Meanwhile, the front of the concept has a further four USB ports, alongside a centrally-mounted disc drive slot.

As with all concepts, the design is yet to be confirmed by Sony.

So far, Sony has remained tightlipped about the PlayStation, although Jim Ryan, President at Sony Interactive Entertainment, has confirmed a launch date of ‘Holiday 2020.’

In a blog back in October, he said: “Since we originally unveiled our next-generation console in April, we know that there’s been a lot of excitement and interest in hearing more about what the future of games will bring.

“Today I’m proud to share that our next-generation console will be called PlayStation 5, and we’ll be launching in time for holiday 2020.”
