Piers Morgan takes swipe at BBC Breakfast as he brands England game 'dull'

Like many, Piers Morgan tuned in to watch the England game on Tuesday night.

But the 56-year-old television presenter and journalist wasn't shy about giving his opinion on the "dull" second half, as he confessed he would rather watch BBC Breakfast - hosted by his rival Dan Walker - than watch the football.

And in a dig at Dan, Piers debated tuning into repeats of the breakfast show ahead of the game, which saw England beat the Czech Republic 1-0.

"Football is a game of two halves. In this case, the first was very exciting - and the second so dull I’d rather watch @BBCBreakfast," he shared with his nearly eight million followers on Twitter.

Piers was thrilled with England's win but warned there were harder games ahead for England.

After the match, he wrote online: "Win’s a win, top of the group is top of the group, first half performance was good & @BukayoSaka87 was superb - so a few positives from the game."

"But let’s face it - we’re going to have to play a lot better than that to beat France, Germany or Portugal …. #euros."

Piers and Dan's rivalry took a turn for the worst earlier this year when the former Good Morning Britain presenter branded Dan as a "nasty piece of work fighting to get out".

Dan currently presents BBC Breakfast (BBC)

He wrote in his Daily Mail column : "My supremely virtuous former breakfast TV show rival Dan ‘Halo’ Walker said about me today: 'Underneath all the froth, I think there is a decent bloke fighting to get out.'"

"Ironically, I’ve always thought that underneath all Dan’s faux saintly froth, there’s a nasty piece of work fighting to get out."

"And the one thing guaranteed to have him stamping on kittens is the knowledge that GMB finally overtook BBC Breakfast in the ratings, on his watch, on my last day."

Dan had previously described their rivalry as "friendly".

"Piers and I have had a friendly rivalry, but it has been good for BBC Breakfast and GMB," he said.

"He likes to throw a few insults around, but underneath all the froth I think there is a decent bloke fighting to get out."
