Patrick Bamford injury update could be bad news for Newcastle United

Newcastle are relying on Leeds United if they are to stay out of the bottom three ahead of the weekend.

The Whites sit safely in mid-table and have been excellent at times this season, including a 4-3 win over Fulham earlier in the campaign.

But United fans are preparing themselves for an uncomfortable Friday night, with a Fulham win dumping them into the bottom three for the first time this season - just eight weeks after Steve Bruce said Newcastle weren't in a relegation battle.

The 8pm kick off will be as anticipated with dread on Tyneside given the way results went over the weekend.

The Cottagers - who are on a decent run themselves - are more than capable of beating Marcelo Bielsa's side who have a dreadful record in the capital this season.

They have played five games in London this year and lost all five.

And they are also set to be without Patrick Bamford, who was replaced on 35 minutes. Respected injury website Physioroom listed him as "50/50" for the game in West London and he looked to be clearly struggling when he was replaced on Saturday against Chelsea.

Bamford is Leeds' top scorer with 13 goals this season.
