Notre Dame football releases times for 2016 home games, 2017 schedule

May 12--Notre Dame hopes its players will be ready for prime time at least twice during the 2016 season and schools named Miami twice during the 2017 season.

The Irish released the times of their 2016 home games along with the 2017 schedule Thursday.

Twice the Irish will play under the lights at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind., this coming season -- Sept. 17 against Michigan State and Oct. 15 against Stanford.

The Shamrock Series game Nov. 12 against Army at the Alamodome in San Antonio will kick off at 2:30 p.m.

It's likely the Irish will play a few more night games on the road, too.

The Irish's 2017 schedule includes two games against Miamies -- Sept. 30 in South Bend against Miami (Ohio) and Nov. 11 in Miami Gardens, Fla., against Miami -- and seven true home games. Recently, the Irish have played six true home games and chosen a neutral site for the their annual Shamrock Series showdown, but with the expected completion of renovations to Notre Dame Stadium, the school chose to schedule an extra true home game.

The Irish open the 2017 season at home Sept. 2 against Temple, followed by a visit from Georgia. They also will face Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich., and North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
