Twelve companies face fines for breaching suppression order on cardinal’s trial but argue they should only pay the $650,000 costs

Media organisations have agreed to pay $650,000 to cover prosecution costs over suppression order breaches involving Cardinal George Pell, but face fines too.

Australian media companies apologised in court on Wednesday for breaching a suppression order on reporting a child sex assault conviction, since overturned, of former Vatican treasurer George Pell in 2018.
