Matt Hancock to give live update on coronavirus today

Health Secretary Matt Hancock will update MPs on the latest developments in the fight against Covid-19.

Mr Hancock is to make a statement in Parliament today.

He is likely to give an update on the vaccination roll-out which started last Tuesday, and which today began in GP surgeries and some care homes.

Mr Hancock is also likely to address any changes to the rules at Christmas - after experts said the changes would need to be looked at in the next few days.

It comes as the USA has seen 3,000 deaths a day since families travelled and gathered for Thanksgiving, and as Germany imposes a tough national lockdown with soaring Covid rates.

Levels of coronavirus infection are now rising across most on England, with Wales saying its hospitals are at risk of being overrun.

The Government will this week consider whether to change any of the tier arrangements across the country - which could see tougher rules in places such as London.

Mr Hancock will make a Commons statement at around 3.30pm.
