Mason Greenwood sets himself Manchester United scoring challenge

Mason Greenwood says he is determined to score a headed goal for the Manchester United first-team this season.

The 18-year-old forward has enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough campaign at Old Trafford which has seen him net 19 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions.

Five of those strikes have come in the Europa League and Greenwood will be eager to get on the scoresheet again when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side face FC Copenhagen in the quarter-finals on Monday night.

Greenwood has risen to prominence for his ability to score with both feet, but he admits it would be extra special if his next goal could come courtesy of his heading ability.

When asked which area of his game he is looking to improve, the United youngster told Uefa: "I think in headed goals. I've not scored a headed goal in the first team this season. It would be nice to get one of them before the Europa League finishes."

Victory for United against Copenhagen on Monday night will leave them just one win away from the Europa League final as Solskjaer's side go in search of the trophy they last won three years ago.

Greenwood says he vividly remembers watching United triumph over Ajax back in 2017 and he dreams of being part of something similar this time around.

He added: "Yeah, I remember. It was a good game. I was at home watching it with my parents and obviously we celebrated when we won. To have the chance to play in it myself and win it myself, I can make that dream come true."
