Masked thug makes off with three-figure sum of cash in knife-point robbery

A knife-wielding thug made off with a three-figure sum of cash during a terrifying robbery at a corner shop in Lanarkshire.

The masked man entered the Day Today on Lawhill Road in Carluke brandishing a knife at around 12.40pm on Sunday, April 12.

He threatened shop workers with the blade before taking around £200 in cash.

Thankfully no one was injured in the incident over the Easter weekend.

Police are now probing the terrifying robbery at the Carluke corner shop (Day Today)

Officers from Police Scotland have now launched a probe into the robbery.

The suspect has been described as being a young white male, slim build and around 5ft 6ins in height.

During the incident he was wearing Adidas jogging bottoms, an Adidas hoodie, a face covering and a pair of black gloves.

A staff member at the Day Today shop said: “If anyone has any details or know of this male.

"Please contact Police Scotland on 01786 289070.”

Detective Constable Scott Pollock from Wishaw CID said: "Fortunately nobody was injured but the female member of staff was naturally left extremely shaken by the experience.
 
"Our enquiries are now ongoing and I would urge anyone who may be able to help identify this indidividual or who may have any more information to come forward.
 
"Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident 1565 of 12 April, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
