Free agent linebacker Manti Te’o is visiting with the Detroit Lions as part of his tour seeking a new contract. The former Saints starter is in Allen Park a day after meeting with the Oakland Raiders.
Te’o spent the last two years as an inside backer with the Saints. He was originally a second-round pick by the then-San Diego Chargers back in 2013 out of Notre Dame.
The 28-year-old played just five games in 2018 and has struggled with injuries throughout his NFL career. He does have experience playing in both a 3- and 4-man front, which makes him more appealing for a multiple front like the Lions defense is under head coach Matt Patricia.
