Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made six changes to his Manchester United side to take on Wolves at Molineux.
The side did not look too unorthodox on paper - but fans were baffled by one intriguing choice which became apparent once the game kicked off.
Solskjaer looked to have deployed Ashley Young in a central defensive role as part of a back three alongside Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling with Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot operating as attacking wing backs.
Considering the England international joined United as a winger back in 2011, his new position signalled a strange choice.
Portuguese youngster Dalot was expected to play in a more advanced role when the team line-up was unveiled with Young expected to fill his usual right back role.

Young did move further wide when United had the ball with Dalot pushing up, but he regularly tucked into a central position when United were forced to defend.
And United fans were mixture of confused, concerned or simply intrigued when they noticed Solskjaer's decision.
