A man suffered a "serious head injury" after being set upon by a trio of weapon-wielding thugs in Coatbridge.
The 45-year-old victim was walking on Beechwood Drive at around 9.10pm on Wednesday when he was attacked by the small group of vicious culprits in what police are treating as a "targeted" assault.
He was later taken to University Hospital, Monklands, where he received treatment for a serious head injury.
Detective Constable Paul James from Coatbridge Police Station said: “We believe this was a targeted attack and there is no risk to the wider public.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, or may have dash-cam footage, and urge them to get in touch via 101 quoting incident reference number 3504 of September 29.”
