Man City player Riyad Mahrez slams 'false' Paris Saint-Germain transfer reports

Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez has strongly refuted claims in the French media that he openly discussed the possibility of joining Paris Saint-Germain.

Mahrez started against the Hammers at the London Stadium but was unable to help Pep Guardiola's team take home all three points.

The Algerian was linked with Real Madrid during the summer transfer window and quotes emerged in the French press following the West Ham fixture claiming Mahrez was interested in joining PSG.

Quotes relayed by 'ActuFoot' suggested Mahrez spoke to French broadcaster Canal+ regarding his future, alleging the forward to have said: "Paris is my city, for the moment I am under contract with Manchester City, but I am not closing any doors, if PSG wants me, I will think about it."

Mahrez denied the reports on social media, claiming his interview with Canal+ had been falsely translated.

He wrote on Twitter: "Never said that. The tweet you translated was false and just clickbaiting. Delete.

"That's not what I said at all. What is difficult to transcribe word for word?"

The winger is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2023.

There was suggestions over the summer that Mahrez could have been included in a deal to sign Lionel Messi from Barcelona, but MEN Sport understood City had no intention of allowing him to depart under any circumstance.
