Sangli: Six members of a family, including two women and three children, were killed on the spot while a woman was seriously injured in an accident that occurred early Wednesday morning near Chichani village on Chichani Tasgaon-Manerajuri road in Tasgaon tehsil of this district.
According to the police, family members were returning after attending the birthday of a relative in Kokale village in Kavathe-Mahankal tehsil in an Alto car. A driver lost control of a speedy car near Chichani village, resulting in a plunge into Tasari canol, which was then vigorously bumped into.
In this incident, six people, including two women and three children, were killed on the spot, while one woman was seriously injured, and was admitted to a hospital.
Due to the desolate area and dark night, no timely assistance was received, and the injured person remained there until morning.
Police, who rushed to the spot after receiving late information of the incident, identified deceased as Rajendra Jagnnath Patil (60), Sujata Rajendra Patil (55) Priyanka Avdhut Kharade (30), three children Druva (3), Kartiiki (1) and Rajvi (2). The injured woman is Swapnali Vikas Bhosale (30).
The police are investigating further.
