London lager brewery launches its first 'off menu' IPA

A London brewery famed for its lagers has launched its first ever IPA – Off Menu – an IPA done the Camden way.

Joining the brewery's  core beer range, Off Menu IPA is a north London take on the West Coast style IPA, brewed using Californian ale yeast and early-harvest Simcoe hops.

A Camden Town Brewery spokesman said: "An IPA? By Camden? Sure, we’re a lager brewery – we love lager, but alongside our collaborations and one-off beers, we’ve secretly been brewing IPA’s for years – they were strictly off menu, if you knew, you knew… until now.

"Inspired by the chefs serving secret off menu burgers at your favourite bistros, this is Camden’s not-so-secret ‘off menu’ dish.

"We’ve taken all our lager learnings to create a north London take on the West Coast style - brewed with clean Californian ale yeast and fresh, early harvest Simcoe hops.

"We resisted piling up hops like topping on a burger, instead we love Simcoe hops so much we used it at four stages of the brewing process to get a beer that’s hoppy, clean and tropical."

Camden Town Brewery’s Off Menu IPA has an ABV of 5.8% and will be available at Fuller’s Pubs and Sainsbury’s for £1.80 a can and £6.00 for a four pack.
