Liverpool stance on Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma amid transfer rumours

Liverpool haven't made an official enquiry for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma.

Reports on Friday claimed the Reds have approached the Seagulls over a possible move for the Mali international.

Jurgen Klopp has long been linked with bringing in a midfielder this summer following the departure on a free transfer of Gini Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool have been monitoring a number of potential targets as they consider the long-term make-up of their midfield.

But the ECHO understands the 24-year-old Bissouma isn't among those the Reds regard a possibility at this time.

Brighton are believed to want £40million for Bissouma, who has been strongly linked with Arsenal and Manchester United.

However, the South Coast side are under no real pressure to sell having brought in £50m with the transfer of defender Ben White to Arsenal.

Liverpool's only new arrival this summer remains French centre-back Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig for £36m.

The Reds have brought in excess of that amount with the sale of six players, and have spent the summer prioritising new contracts for key players with Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson among those to put pen to paper.
