Liam Shaw defended after Celtic transfer as Darren Moore pleads with fans to back youngster

Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore has urged fans not to turn on Liam Shaw after he agreed a pre-contract deal with Celtic.

The Parkhead club announced this week that a deal has been done for the summer, much to the frustration of the Owls.

The Football League club released a statement pledging to investigate the circumstances of the deal, but the Wednesday boss has urged fans not to take any frustration out on Shaw.

Moore stressed: “Please don’t harbour the frustration on the boy.

“He’s a Wednesday fan, he’s committed to the club and it’s a situation which has happened.

“He’s a fan of the club, the family’s got huge respect and loyalties towards the football club and he’s no different.

“Every single time he puts on a Wednesday shirt he is committed to the cause.

“He’s a great human being, he’s very committed and he’s a top young talented player.

“He’ll continue to give his all to the football club.”

The talented midfielder, who turned 20 on Thursday, has been tipped to have a huge future in the game.

And Shaw admitted the opportunity to play in Europe with Celtic was too big to turn down in a open letter to fans earlier this week.
