Kyrie Irving reaches scoring mark no other Celtic has since 2006

The Boston Celtics took another strange loss on Saturday, falling 124-117 to the Hornets despite leading by as much as 18 points in the fourth quarter.

Although the loss instantly ranks among the Celtics’ worst of 2018-19 and everyone on the team is to blame, Kyrie Irving did achieve something no other Celtics players had since 2006, according to @Celtics_Stats on Twitter.

Despite this being a game to forget, this was also Irving’s best individual performance on his birthday.

Irving finished with 31 points on 12 of 23 shooting, going 4 for 11 from three-point range. However, his shoot could not right the ship in the fourth quarter, while Kemba Walker took over and proved to be too much for the Celtics to handle.
