Kerry Katona reveals she's taken the next step in her surrogacy journey

Kerry Katona and partner Ryan Mahoney are seriously considering surrogacy.

The mum-of-five has said she doesn't want to carry another a child, but she still wants Ryan to experience being a father.

The couple, who got engaged last August, told Steph's Packed Lunch that they'd made an appointment to harvest Kerry's eggs, which means they will be frozen and stored for later use.

The 41-year-old revealed: "We have got an appointment tomorrow about getting my eggs harvested. That is the next step, and that is as far as we are going.”

Kerry explained that she and Ryan, 32, had already spoken to a family who had used a surrogate.

“Ryan hasn’t biologically grown any of his children," she explained.

"I don’t want to rob Ryan of not having his own child, if that is a route we want to go down, but I don’t want to carry another child.”

The couple were told by Dr Helen Prosser that they were looking at spending an initial £25,000 on a surrogate to cover expenses including vitamins, clothing and childcare.

While the couple are exploring their options Ryan admitted that it was not something they'd be jumping into.

He said: “It’s something that down the line it might be more of a thought than a thing for me to be like ‘I want more than I do at the minute’.

"At the minute we’re so busy that it isn’t top of the list, but if it is going to happen, we need to get the ball rolling and start the process.”

Kerry previously said the traumatic birth of her fifth child Dylan-Jorge almost killed her and she swore “never again”.

However since meeting Ryan on dating app Bumble three years ago, Kerry said she was feeling broody again.

She previously said: “I am going to get my eggs frozen because I would like Ryan to have a child but I couldn’t physically carry it.

Speaking about the thought of going through labour for the sixth time she asked: “Why put myself through that when I could go through surrogacy?”

Kerry has revealed that she kept her relationship with fiancé Ryan under wraps for the first year of their whirlwind romance.

The former Atomic Kitten star is said to be completely smitten with the personal trainer and told The Mirror she is going to be with him 'until the day she dies.'

Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays at 12.30pm on Channel 4.
