Kenedy provides update on his Chelsea future as he opens up on new position under Frank Lampard

Frank Lampard has a decision to make over Kenedy's future in the next couple of weeks as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging for honours this season.

The Brazilian has impressed in the club's pre-season games so far this month, especially in his two appearances against Kawasaki Frontale and Barcelona out in Japan.

Chelsea have a wealth of attacking options and the new head coach has taken his time to assess what he has available to him given the Blues cannot bring any new players in due to their transfer ban.

Spending the past 18 months on loan at Newcastle with opportunities in the first team few and far between in SW6, the Brazilian has admitted he is pleased the manager has given him the opportunity to prove himself ahead of the new season as he looks to remain in west London.

"I am very happy with the amount of minutes I played in Japan," he told the club's official website .

"It was a great experience. I am really pleased for the opportunity the manager is giving me and the amount I have been playing in pre-season.

"When I was at Chelsea before I played a lot as a left-back, but now I have been playing further forward. My past experiences as a left-back have helped me be a better player now."

Reflecting on his time at St James' Park over the past couple of seasons, the 23-year-old has now admitted that his dream is to become part of the Chelsea team and play a part for them over the coming campaign.

"I learned a lot from my time there," he added. "I was very happy with the amount I played.

"It was a great experience for me so I must say thanks to the club and the manager.

"Now I have to start again here at Chelsea and work hard, step by step. My hope now is to do a great season here at Chelsea. That is my dream."

The opening Premier League game against Manchester United is now just over two weeks away and Kenedy will have his fingers crossed he will be involved in the squad with some more good showings over the remaining pre-season games.
