Jurgen Klopp is the best thing to happen to Liverpool in years.
The German has transformed the sleeping giants into the best team in the world, winning the Champions League last season, and likely the Premier League this campaign.
But there will come a time when Klopp will stand down at Anfield and will need to be replaced by an equally impressive individual.
Like most clubs, Liverpool have been putting a contingency plan in place for when this day arrives. And according to The Athletic, there are three names at the top of this list: Steven Gerrard, Julian Nagelsmann and Pep Lijnders.
Here we profile the trio to consider what they'd bring.

Steven Gerrard
The epitome of a Liverpool legend, Gerrard spent his entire career with the Reds, with whom he won the Champions League with in 2005 before a season in the LA sun en route to retirement.
Following his playing days, Gerrard was appointed a youth coach at Liverpool.
The Englishman impressed Klopp and co. with his work ethic and attitude towards making the academy a success and was put in charge of the Liverpool Under-18s side.
For the 2017/18 UEFA Youth League, Gerrard again stepped up to manage the Under-19s team before Scottish giants Rangers made an approach for him.

Gerrard put pen to paper on a four-year deal in Glasgow and got off to a winning start with a 2-0 victory over Shkupi in the Europa League.
Gerrard's managerial achievements to date include going 12 matches unbeaten in all competitons. He's also closed the gap considerably between Rangers and Celtic.
Julian Nagelsmann
Aged just 28, Nagelsmann burst onto the scene at Hoffenheim as the youngest ever boss to manage in the Bundesliga.
Prior to that he worked as Tim Wiese's assistant, where he was given the nickname 'Mini Mourinho' due to his tactical prowess.
Nagelsmann inherited something of a sinking ship at Hoffenheim, when he took over from Huub Stevens in 2016.

The club were 17th in the table and staring relegation in the face, but the German guided his side to victory in seven of their remaining 14 fixtures to avoid the drop.
He then immediately guided the side to a fourth-place finish, ensuring Hoffenheim qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history.
In 2019, Nagelsmann was named RB Leipzig boss, where he has continued to shine.
Now aged 32, Nagelsmann recently became the youngest ever coach to win a Champions League knockout tie as 'Mini Mourinho' got one over Jose Mourinho's Tottenham.
Pep Lijnders
Klopp's assistant at Liverpool, Lijnders has been at Anfield since 2014, where he also worked under Brendan Rodgers.
The coach had a short spell in between managing Dutch side NEC in 2018 but returned to Liverpool in the same season.

Initially Lijnders was on Klopp's coaching staff but has been working more closely with the German in recent seasons after Zeljko Buvac stepped down as his assistant.
Lijnders' style of management is similar to Klopp's in that he is all about high-intensity attacking football.
All the way back in 2015, the Dutchman, discussing his type of football, told daswunderkind: "Our style is to attack, with and without the ball.
"We realise that the game is played with one ball, our ball, and we steal it back wherever on the pitch and we use it to attack the opponent. It doesn't matter who we play against, we will press them high and aggressively and we will attack and attack them again."
