Ian Wright has already told Edu why Arsenal must sign £40.5m striker to complete dream line-up

Arsenal have been linked with moves for both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ollie Watkins in recent days.

The Gunners will need to sign a new striker in the next year or so, especially as Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are into the final year of their contracts at the Emirates, with neither appearing likely to sign a new deal in the coming months at this present stage.

A number of strikers have reportedly been on Arsenal’s wish list, including the likes of Lautaro Martinez, Dusan Vlahovic and Alexander Isak.

But reports have now claimed that Mikel Arteta and Edu are interested in taking either Calvert-Lewin or Watkins – the latter of whom is known to be an Arsenal fan – to north London in the near future.

The duo have both shown their quality in the Premier League for Everton and Aston Villa respectively, and their performances have earned them recognition as first-choice replacements for Harry Kane in the England set-up.

With that in mind, Gunners legend Ian Wright has already told the club which striker to sign.

When asked the question of who he would prefer to sign whilst on pundit duty with Match of the Day in May, he said: “You’d probably take Dominic Calvert-Lewin simply because of his experience at under-21 level and the fact he’s had a very good season, just like Ollie Watkins.

“It’s an unfair question because I wouldn’t mind taking them both.”

Both strikers are likely to be expensive in the market, but with Arteta looking to continue the Gunners’ rebuild, there’s no doubt that they’d help to improve Arsenal’s squad in the long-term.

However, for now at least, the transfers are merely rumour and therefore, nowhere near completion.
