The viewing figures for the 20th series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! are higher than the previous series by around one million people per night.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the hit reality show has been forced to migrate from the Australian jungle to Gwrych Castle in Wales.
The series premiere saw I’m a Celeb reach its largest audience since the final of the 2018 series, making it the most-watched non-news broadcast of 2020.
It also marked the show’s largest ever audience in the key 16-to-34 age bracket.
The 2019 premiere reached 9.95 million UK viewers, while Sunday’s debut (15 November) managed to amass 10.91 million.
Monday’s episode (16 November) attracted a viewership of 10.04 million people (up from 9.04 million last year), while the subsequent episode (17 November) managed to reach 9.40 million, significantly more than 2019’s third episode, which again reached just 9.04 million.
Wednesday (18 November) night’s episode, meanwhile, managed 8.84 million viewers, a considerable rise from 8.05 million last time around.
Prior to the series premiere, TV experts had theorised that the English national lockdown, along with the novelty of the new Welsh location, would prompt a renewed interest in the long-running reality series.
