How did Stan Kirsch die? Friends and Highlander star found dead at home aged 51

Stan Kirsch was found dead at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday at age 51.

The actor, who was best known for his cameo role in Friends, was found by his wife Kristyn Green after he took his own life.

She confirmed the news of her husband's death on Facebook on Monday.

In a lengthy message, she penned: "I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support. I haven't been able to respond to all the texts, calls, emails -- but have read or listened to every single one of them.

"I feel surrounded by love and am forever grateful to each and every one of you."

Stan was best known for his cameo in Friends as Ethan, a high school aged boy who lied about his age to sleep with Monica Geller.

He guest starred in the episode The One with the Ick Factor in 1995.

Another memorable part came when he starred as Richie Ryan in Highlander, which he played from 1992 until 1998.

He then lent his acting talents to the character of Lieutenant Ferrari in JAG for five seasons.

Stan's last role came in 2009 when he voiced Robot and Red Rush in animated series Invincible.

In 2008 Stan and his wife, Kristyn Green, formed Stan Kirsch Studios in LA.

The official Highlander Facebook group paid tribute to Stan in a note which praised him for bringing his sense of humor, kindness and enthusiasm to the show.

It read: “It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Stan Kirsch.

“Without Stan Kirsch, Highlander: The Series would have been far less. He brought a sense of humor, kindness and youthful enthusiasm to the character of Richie Ryan for six seasons.”
