The Centre has identified 116 districts with a large concentration of returnee migrant workers in six states for the government’s ambitious employment-cum-rural public works campaign launched by the PM on June 20.

Joint Secretarys are appointed as nodal officers from the IAS, IPS, IFoS among others..The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan (GKRA) to implement 25 categories of activites in 116 districts of returnee migrant workers in 6 states of Bihar, UP, MP, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha.

“The nodal officers will work in close collaboration with state government officials and district magistrates/collectors/deputy commissioners as per the guidelines of the Abhiyaan, being issued by the Department of Rural Development separately,” an order issued by the Personnel Ministry said.

As many as 63 of the 116 districts selected under Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan are from these two states.Statistics show that 32 of 38 districts in Bihar and 31 out of 75 districts in UP are covered by GKRA
