Harvey Elliott injury update issued by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update on Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott following his serious injury suffered against Leeds United.

The 18-year-old was stretchered off in the 63rd minute of the match after being on the receiving end of a strong challenge from Leeds defender Pascal Struijk in midfield.

Liverpool players expressed their concerns immediately after watching this tackle, as did Klopp.

Commenting on Elliott's injury after the Reds' 3-0 win at Elland Road, Klopp told Sky Sports: "It is a bad injury. Ankle. I heard it was dislocated, we could put it back. He is now in the hospital, and we have to wait.

"He played, again, an incredible game and he is an incredible player. But now he is out.

"Do I want such a young boy having that experience that early in his career? No. But that's the case and we have to be there. We will play football without him, but we will wait for him as well. Obviously he is a top, top player.

"I saw the situation and then I could see his foot not in the right place. That's why we were all shocked. That's it."

Elliott wasted little time to send Liverpool fans a message regarding his injury and reached out to fans on social media.

"Thank you for the messages guys! Road to recovery. YNWA," he wrote on Instagram.
