Gary Lineker praises Son Heung-Min after classy celebration dedicated to Everton's Andre Gomes

Gary Lineker has praised Son Heung-Min for his classy celebration after scoring for Tottenham in the Champions League against Red Star Belgrade.

The South Korean international struck twice in the Serbian capital to hand Mauricio Pochettino's side a significant boost in their quest to qualify for the latter stages and Son's efforts came after a difficult week.

On Sunday, the forward was visibly distraught after a challenge on Everton midfielder Andre Gomes left the Portugal international with a horrific injury, with Son subsequently earning a red card.

That decision has since been overturned by the Premier League, leaving Son available for this weekend's clash with Sheffield United, but the incident understandably rocked the 27-year-old.

Despite a difficult weekend, Son retained his spot in Spurs ' starting XI for the trip to Eastern Europe to play Red Star, with Pochettino stating ahead of the game that he had recovered from the events on Merseyside.

However, Gomes was still on Son's mind as he appeared to dedicate his first goal against the Serbian side to the stricken midfielder, who underwent ankle surgery this week.

That earned praise from BT Sport pundit Lineker , who was hosting the evening's action, and he took to social media to share his thoughts on the classy behaviour from Son.

"Son scores a super goal and goes to the camera and says sorry down the lens, presumably aimed at Andre Gomes. Nice touch," he posted on Twitter.

Gomes visited Everton's Finch Farm training ground on Tuesday, Toffees boss Marco Silva revealed, and added that the feedback received so far on his injury has been positive.

“He is doing well. The surgery went really well and all the feedback we’ve had until now was really good. It was really good for everyone to see him, to have that first contact with him after that tough moment for all of us."
