Game of Thrones star The Mountain goes daft for steaks from Airdrie butchers while training in town

COP26 treated us to a fair few celeb sightings in and around Glasgow - the most talked about being Leonardo DiCaprio appearing at a fringe event in Maryhill.

Now Airdrie has been graced with the quite literally massive presence of Icelandic strongman and actor Hafþór Júlíus "Thor" Björnsson, aka The Mountain in Game of Thrones.

The 33-year-old, who stands at 6ft 9 tall, has been spending the past few weeks in the North Lanarkshire town training at the gym of Billy Nelson - Scotland' most accomplished and successful boxing coach.

Thor's Instagram feed shows he's visited Stirling Castle and took a dip in Loch Lomond, while last night also saw the actor visit The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall to meet up with WBC heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury prior to an event he was hosting.

It seems the huge actor has also developed a strong love for a local butchers, Ferguson's of Airdrie, which he says does "the best steaks in Scotland".

He posted a picture with a few weeks ago at the butchers along with the caption: "The best steaks in Scotland! Guess how many kg of steak I’m holding".

And he followed that up by posting an Instagram story this morning showing his hearty breakfast along with the caption: "Best steak and eggs in Airdrie" while tagging the butchers in the story.

And with all the training he seems to be doing in the gym, we are wondering how many steaks he's putting away on a daily basis!
