Galloway Preservation Society to host AGM on Saturday, April 6

The Galloway Preservation Society (originally the Stewartry Preservation Society) was founded in 1964 to encourage interest in and the preservation of the heritage and amenities of Galloway.

The society has an annual programme of talks and visits, as well as monitoring planning applications.

In the past the society has given awards for architectural merit, but now makes recommendations to the Civic Trust. In a changing world, its current focus is on supporting local museums and promoting memorial plaques for famous local people.

The annual general meeting this year is in the Carsluith Hall on Saturday, April 6 at 2pm, when Janet Brennan will be talking about Historic Environment Scotland of which she is a trustee.

Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
