Former 49ers OT Anthony Davis could be an option for the Texans

Former San Fransisco 49er offensive tackle Anthony Davis has been released and can now speak with other teams. At 29 years old Davis could be another addition on the offensive line for the Houston Texans.

After Texans general manager Brian Gaine drafted rookies Tytus Howard and Max Scharping, Houston making every effort to make sure franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson is protected this season.

The former first-round pick in the 2010 draft has only played a couple of snaps since 2014 but had a run blocking grade of 71 per Pro Football Focus.

In 2012 Davis graded out with an 85.7 with at least 200 run blocking snaps and was fourth among tackles.

If Gaine were to sign Davis it would be a prove it type of deal for the former 49er. Adding another tackle is never a bad thing when you have arguably the worst offensive line in the NFL.
