Five Scottish Nando’s branches have been forced to shut to ongoing supply issues across the UK, it has been confirmed.
It has been reported that delays at ports, freight and shipping services has resulted in disruption to supplies due to Brexit.
The chicken chain said that it has drafted in staff from some restaurants to help restore some normality to its supply chain.
Nando’s also said that there has also been issued with staff shortages, which is believed to have been caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The firm’s website lists that branches at Glasgow Braehead and Soar, Glasgow West End, Aberdeen Belmont Street and Edinburgh Ocean Terminal are now closed due to the disruption.
Customers have been advised to check in with their local restaurants before heading out for a meal over the coming days.
It is hoped that all affected restaurants will be able to reopen to customers from this Saturday.
A spokesperson for Nando’s said: “The UK food industry has been experiencing disruption across its supply chain in recent weeks due to staff shortages and a number of our restaurants have been impacted.
“However, since Monday, a team of our brilliant Nandocas have been supporting our key suppliers onsite – working in partnership to help get things moving again, and this has already had a positive impact on affected restaurants.
“From this Saturday, as a result of the hard work behind the scenes, it is our intention that all of our restaurants will be open again, and all our customers can enjoy their favourite PERi-PERi chicken.”
KFC also reported disruption to supply last week and warned Scots that some items on the menu may be missing from some branches.
The fast food giant told customers that it is ‘working hard’ to bring normality to the service.
