New video shows the Eagles only had 10 defenders on the field on a big play

The Philadelphia Eagles, who fell to 1-2 with their loss to the Lions at home on Sunday, should be embarrassed when they see the video of a big play in which they somehow only had 10 players on the field.

Yup, they were missing a right defensive end and Lions QB Matthew Stafford not only noticed it, but he exploited it as the Lions ran a reverse with J.D. McKissic going 44 yards and deep into Eagles territory.

That led to a field goal for Detroit, which ended up winning the game by three points.

Stafford had this to say after the game:

“I’m really supposed to seal the end on that play,” Stafford said. “We only had 10 guys (to face) because there was no end over there, so I just kept moving and found the next guy. I’m sure he’s been hit a lot harder than that, but I at least tried to get in the way.”

Here’s the play, with NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger breaking it down and ripping the Eagles:

The Eagles have been a mess so far this season but that kind of stuff just can’t happen.
