Coronavirus in Edinburgh: Frostbite and hive-like symptoms linked to COVID-19

The most well-known symptoms of COVID-19 are tightness of chest, fever and a cough, but doctors are learning more about other unique symptoms that come with this disease.

The Daily Star reports that a new symptom has now being recognised after research by the French National Union of Dermatologists - Venereologists.

Experts have warned that there is an increasing number of COVID-19 patients with hives, painful red skin and frostbite like symptoms.

According to the French National Union of Dermatologists - Venereologists, patients both with and without respiratory issues have presented with the skin issues.

A spokesman for SNDV said: "Analysis of the many cases reported to SNDV shows that these manifestations can be associated with the novel coronavirus.

"We are alerting the public and the medical profession in order to detect these potentially contagious patients as quickly as possible."

We previously reported how experts in Spain had discovered a number of COVID-19 patients presenting with purple lesions on their feet.

Frostbite symptoms are often associated with painful purple skin which can present on feet.

It not yet known if there could be a connection to this and the 'frost-bite' like symptoms reported by french experts.
