Coatbridge man drove while over alcohol limit as well as being disqualified

A man who drove while disqualified and over the legal alcohol limit will return to court next month.

Coatbridge’s James Jackson, of Kirk Street, got behind the wheel in Salsburgh on June 11.

The 27-year-old’s decision was ill-advised as he had 36mg of alcohol in a 100ml sample of his breath when stopped by police – the legal limit is 22mg.

On top of those two offences, Jackson also had no insurance.

He appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court last week but, due to a “breakdown in communication”, reports weren’t available for Sheriff Petra Collins’ perusal.

Jackson will return to the dock on August 7 once a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty assessment have been organised.
