NAKHON RATCHASIMA: The provincial agricultural land reform office has agreed to extend the deadline for two scenic tourist attractions to prove their right to occupy land reserved for use by poor farmers.
Provincial land reform chief Surachai Yutthachana said on Wednesday that lawyers for the Agriculture Land Reform Office had agreed to the requests by Flora Park and Faprathan Farm and allowed the two companies another month, until Dec 6, to prove the two large areas they occupy in Wang Nam Khieo district are not Sor Por Kor land.
Owners of the two attractions on Monday this week requested more time to prepare their case.
The land would be immediately seized if they failed to produce proof of their eligibility to use the land by Dec 6, Mr Surachai said.
The agricultural land reform office deemed both parcels of land were within an area designated Sor Por Kor land following complaints from local residents. Such land is reserved for disribution to poor farmers and cannot be sold.
