Children being sent home from Renfrewshire high school

Pupils are being sent home from Park Mains High School following problems with the water supply.

Parents are being urged to collect their children from the Erskine campus, while buses are being arranged for youngsters entitled to free school transport.

It is understood Scottish Water is currently on site trying to resolve the problem.

A spokeswoman for Renfrewshire Council said: "Park Mains High School has to close today, Monday, August 22 due to water supply issues which are currently under investigation.

"We are contacting parents and carers and the school will remain open until all pupils have been collected or transport arrangements have been put in place to ensure that pupils entitled to school transport get home safely.

"It is anticipated that the school will reopen tomorrow.

"A further update will be issued in due course."
