Charlton boss makes transfer admission over reported Nottingham Forest transfer target

Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer has admitted that the club are expecting to receive bids for reported Nottingham Forest target Lyle Taylor.

The Reds have been linked with a January move for the 29-year-old, along with a handful of clubs across the Premier League and Championship.

Burnley, Sheffield United and Norwich City have all been credited with an interest in the striker, along with Brentford and Bristol City.

Taylor has been in fine form for Charlton since their return to the Championship, bagging five goals in his eight appearances so far this season.

It is understood that Taylor’s contract at The Valley expires at the end of the season, with reports earlier this week claiming that the Addicks are hoping to convince the striker to extend his stay to ward off interest from other clubs.

However, Bowyer has admitted that it may be tough for Taylor to remain with the Championship club, should an offer come in from the top flight.

“The question is if we can keep him, not if clubs will come in for him,” Bowyer told News Shopper .

He added: “Clubs all know what he can do before the start of this season.

“He’s showed he can score goals in this division and that’s what teams want.

“They tried to take him before he even proved it.

“Do I think clubs will come in for him? 1 million percent yes.

“It was the same for Karlan Grant last season, if a Premier League club comes in it’s even more difficult, it’s the nature of the game.”

Forest could well dip into the transfer market during the January transfer window, as they look to mount a push for promotion to the top flight.

The Reds continue to be linked with strikers ahead of the January transfer window, with Taylor joining Connor Wickham , Dwight Gayle and Ibrahim Sissoko as the latest forwards linked with a move to the City Ground.
