Charlie Adam issues defiant response to trolls after appearance is mocked on social media

Former Rangers and Scotland star Charlie Adam has hit back at trolls who mocked him on social media.

An image of Adam celebrating a goal for Reading at the weekend was posted with people mocking his teeth and claiming he looked much older than he actually is.

Trolls posted comments suggesting he was 'aging like a pint of milk under a radiator', was 'on loan at Chernobyl FC' as well as much more criticising how he looks.

Comparisons were made with Cristiano Ronaldo who is a year younger than the Reading midfielder but Adam isn't too bothered by what is being said.

In response to a tweet criticising the trolls, Adam said: “Don’t worry about me. Water off a duck’s back. Had it all my life. Do the talking on the pitch.”

The 34-year-old has played 15 times for Reading this season after a slow start to life at the club.

He grabbed the winning goal in a 2-1 win over Fulham on New Year's Day.

Back in October, Adam returned to Ibrox and played in a Rangers' Legends game against Liverpool Legends for charity.

He only played a short spell at the end of the match, which is best remembered for Rangers boss Steven Gerrard donning a blue shirt for a cameo appearance.
